Pension Revision-Hollow claims by a leader

Hollow claims by disgruntled and discredited leader
It is as usual ! Nothing to be surprised ! The discredited and disgruntled leader has again come with hollow claims. This time, the claim made is about the achievement of Pension Revision of pre-2007  BSNL Retirees. After the implementation of VI CPC Recommendations, the leader claimed all the credits for the benefits, even though he was never a party to any discussions with the Pay Commission or the Government. He claimed the  credit for the IDA revision for BSNL absorbees, though he did not attend even half of the meetings on the negotiations with the BSNL Management. He claimed loud and high about his fight against the revisionist policies of Com.OPG, but when his union was merged with BSNLEU, his supporters in 7 major circles shifted to OPG side! In the middle of the crucial first membership verification, this leader ran away from the battle field, just like a soldier deserting his army when the fight is going on. A leader who can not function without the recognition of Government/ Management!

His latest claims is that the Pension Revision has been done at his behest! Wonderful. The two years hard bargaining in the Wage negotiation, the discussions in the DOT-BSNL-BSNLEU tripartite Committee, several discussions with the Secretary, DOT, Member (Finance), Member(Services) and other senior DOT Officers, the several strikes and agitations organised by the BSNLEU and United Forum as also AIBDPA (after it was formed), the struggles organised under Joint Action Committee, the agreement with the Minister after the 20th April 2010 strike, the discussions during the 1-2 December 2010 strike and assurances which are all documented with minutes and details of discussions which led to the present achievement of Cabinet decision on Pension Revision of pre-2007 BSNL retirees are nothing to this great leader. According to his claim, some information received from here and there are the real reason for the settlement. wonderful!

Workers and Pensioners have understood this self-proclaimed leader years back. They are amused. Further details on hollow claims of this leader follows.

Behave with some sense of responsibilty-Supreme court ask Minister. The Hindu -Editorial 24 Jan.2011

                                                     Wake up call for Sibal

Defending the indefensible may be part of the lawyers trade but this does not extend to a flagrant distortion of easily verifiable facts. Union communications Minister Kapil Sibal, who shocked everyone with his claim of zero-loss to the exchequer in 2G spectrum allocation, was rapped on the knuckles by the Supreme court-which asked him to behave with some sense of responsibility Mr.Sibal, in an egregious overflow of enthusiasm to defend his predecessor, A.Raja, and the United Progressive Alliance govt. sought to debunk the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General on the spectrum controversy. Just as the CBI seemed to be getting serious about its investigation into the 2G spectrum allocation scandal, and a one man committee was starting to look into the procedures and policies of DOT in granting 2G license since 2001,Mr.Sibal presents himself as an omniscient authority on the subject and pre judged the case. The Supreme court registered its concern over the impactthe ministers statement might have on the CBI investigation. Mr.Sibal, a distinguished lawyer will hopefully realize the full import of the Supreme Courts observations against him. The courts larger concern of course is to ensure independent investigation, without fear or favour, by the premier criminal investigation agency.

With the highest court in the land now monitoring the investigation into the 2G spectrum scandal, the CBI should have the nerve to get on with the investigation without allowing any intervention or improper inputs from its political masters. But this is easier said than done. Clearly there is no systematic protection for Indias investigating agencies. In several criminal cases that have the potential to hurt those in power at the centre, the CBI has handled the investigation in a way that achieves the end-result of aborted or failed prosecution. The Bofors case which is synonymous with political corruption, is a notorious case of investigators acting in the service of their political bosses. If the UPA govt. has any intention of getting the truth in the telecom scam, Mr.Sibal should publicly retract his irresponsible, over- the-top comments made at a sensitive juncture. Prime Minister Manmohan Sing owes it to the nation to dissociate his Govt. from his Ministers act of egregious folly, and to provide credible assurances that there will be no further political obstruction of efforts to get to the truth. If he fails to do this, the perception is bound to grow that yet another cover-up of big league corruption is afoot.
