It was a rare reflection of great unity of
the workers of Central, State governments, public sector, railways, teachers
and pensioners who virtually captured Jantar Mantar area in New Delhi. They
were raising only one demand, “Withdraw the draconian PFRDA Bill”.
AIBDPA has played its humble role by
participating in the Parliament March. About 500 comrades from all circles
rallied under the banner of AIBDPA carrying flags and placards. Participants
included Com. Ananta Kumar Bhattacharjee, President, K.G.Jayaraj, General
Secretary and office bearers as well as most of the circle secretaries.
The Parliament March was blocked with
barricades etc. by the police in the Parliament Street, where the leaders
including Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri and P.Abhimanyu addressed the march. A delegation of leaders met the Prime
Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and conveyed the strong resentment against the bill
and it was reported that the Prime Minister was speechless on the genuine
argument of the delegation.
Comrade
Basudevacharia and Tapan Sen, General Secretary CITU and M.P.
also accompanied the delegation.
