An Extended Executive Committee meeting of TUI(P&R) with the six Regional Coordinators was held virtually from 8.30 PM to 11.30 PM on 22nd January, 2025.

The importance of the meeting was the participation of Comrade Pambis Kyritisis, General Secretary, WFTU and his inspiring speech. Comrades Dimos Koumpouris, President, Quim Boix, General Secretary, Anda Anastasaki, Deputy General Secretary, Bachir Hakem, Secretary, Organization addressed and guided the meeting. 28 Comrades participated and presented their response on the draft report of Comrade Quim Boix, General Secretary.

Comrade K G Jayaraj, Vice Secretary ( Organization ) and Comrade Swastika Dasgupta, Member, Womens Commission were the participants from India. Comrade. K Ragavendran, Asia Coordinator could not participate. Comrade K G Jayaraj, in his address gave a brief account of the global situation highlighting the imperialist offensive of Donald Trump, the struggles being waged in India by AIBDPA and NCCPA, the farmer struggle and the decision of the Central Trade Unions for another General Strike against the proposal of Modi government to implement the anti -worker Labour Codes brought out replacing 29 hard won labour laws only to suit the interests of the employers / corporate.

The data collected from various countries of the prices of medicines revealed the depth of the exploitation / looting by multinational Pharmaceutical companies. For example the price of a medicine is 15 times higher in Columbia compared to Spain. The meeting decided to launch an effective campaign in all the countries against the looting of the people, particularly, the elders by the profit greedy Pharmaceutical mafia.
