HUMAN CHAIN TO BE ORGANISED ON 14-09-2022 AT EVERY DISTRICT.

The Coordination Committee of BSNLEU,AIBDPA & BSNLCCWF had decided to conduct Human Chain on 07-07-2022 against the National Monetisation Pipeline. However it was postponed due to some unavoidable circumstances. Now the COC has decided to hold it on 14-09-2022. All AIBDPA circle and district units are requested to get in touch with their BSNLEU and BSNLCCWF counterparts to organise the programme successfully throughout the country.

Convention by Coordination Committee of BSNLEU- AIBDPA- BSNLCCWF at Thrissur on 8th August 2022 on ‘ Workers Role in Freedom Struggle’ in connection with the celebration of 75th Anniversary of Independence. Com.P.G. Vasudevan, Dist. President AIBDPA presided. Com. V.A.N. Namboodiri inaugurated the Convention. Comrades K.R.Krishna Das, DS BSNLEU, K.Krishnan Kutty, DS, AIBDPA, Jijo Jose, DS CCWF, A.S.Rajan, Circle Vice- President, S.K.Gopalan, senior leader and others addressed. A large number of workers, including many women comrades participated.

EXTEND SUPPORT AND SOLIDARITY TO THE POSTAL STRIKE ON 10th AUGUST,2022.

The Postal Joint Council of Action, consisting of all the unions affiliated to the two major Federations, National Federation of Postal Employees (NFPE) and Federation of National Postal Organisations (FNPO) has given a clarion call for a STRIKE on 10th August, 2022. The demands put forward for the strike are of paramount importance; Stop Privatisation of Postal Services, Protect Post Office Savings Bank and Postal Life Insurance Scheme, Desist from stopping Railway Mail Services, Fill up the vacant posts , Settle the issues of Gramin Dak Sevaks etc. The strike gains significance as it is for the protection of postal services in the country, catering best services to the people at affordable rates. AIBDPA calls upon all its units to extend all the support and cooperation to make the strike complete success throughout the country. It is also requested to organise solidarity action jointly with other affiliates of NCCPA. All India BSNL DoT Pensioners Association (AIBDPA) is organising a March to Sanchar Bhawan on 24.08.2022, demanding settlement of Pension Revision w.e.f. 01.01.2017 and settlement of other important demands of the pensioners. The Co-ordination Committee of BSNLEU, AIBDPA and BSNL CCWF, has decided to participate in this programme and make it a success. The Coordination Committee of BSNLEU, AIBDPA & BSNLCCWF has decided to celebrate the 75th Independence Day and organise seminars on “The role of working Class in the Freedom Struggle” from 11-07-2022 to 15-08-2022. Coimbatore District Branch has organised an impressive Seminar on 29th July 2022. Com. B Soundarapandiyan, District President controlled the proceedings held at Kamalam Duraisamy Hall, Gandhipuram, Coimbatore. Com. A Kudiarasu, District Secretary welcomed the gathering. Com.R Rajasekar, Circle Secretary formally inaugurated the seminar.

Com.V A N Namboodiri, Advisor delivered the keynote address and narrated the glorious stuggles ,the Indian working class launched. Com.V A N highlighted the struggles of the Central Government employees, particularly P&T employees, the most important being the historic strike July,1946. Coms.K Pankajavally, CHQ Asst Treasurer, S Makeswaran, District Secretary, BSNLEU and S Shanmukundham, District Secretary, TNTCWU also addressed the seminar. Com. N P Rajendran, District Treasurer proposed vote of thanks. CHQ heartily congratulate Coimbatore comrades for organising the seminar in a grand manner with large participation of pensioners, particularly significant participation of lady comrades. They also utilized the opportunity to celebrate the 84th Birth Day of Com.V A N Namboodiri.

Com.K G Jayaraj, General Secretary was to join CHQ on 15th July, 2022 mainly for arranging accommodation to the comrades participating in the Sanchar Bhawan March and other important issues. STILL THE EXGRACIA IS DIRECTED TO BE WITHHELD UNTIL DOT’S CLEARANCE. THE RELENTLESS EFFORTS MADE BY CHQ ON THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE IS WELL KNOWN TO ALL. FURTHER IT WAS INCLUDED AS ONE OF THE DEMANDS FOR THE AGITATIONAL PROGRAMME CULMINATING IN THE SANCHAR BHAWAN MARCH ON 24-08-2022. MEDICAL BILLS OF BSNL RETIREES AND ARREARS OF MEDICAL ALLOWANCE WORTH Rs.367 CR PENDING FOR PAYMENT-SAYS THE GOVERNMENT IN PARLIAMENT.

Natarajan* Will the Minister ofCOMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state:-(a) whether the Government is aware that the BSNL Pensioners and serving staff are being deprived from getting cashless medical treatment even for chronic diseases and monthly medical allowances in liu of out-door treatment from the year 2018 on the plea of shortage of funds allocation from BSNL;

(b) if so, the details of number of such pending medical bills due for payment and the year from which medical allowance is pending;

(c) the details of required amount for the clearance of pending bills and medical allowance as on 30.06.2022; and(d) the details of the decision taken in this regard?

*ANSWER* MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMUNICATIONS(SHRI DEVUSINH CHAUHAN)

(a)&(b) BSNL Pensioners and serving staff are not deprived from getting medical treatment. However, medical bills worth Rs. 367 Crores are pending for clearance from 1st January, 2019 onwards with reference to retired employees which includes outdoor treatment, indoor treatment and medical allowance.(c) As on 30.06.2022, Rs. 367 Crores is required for clearance of pending medical liability of retired employees, which could not be cleared due to financial stress in BSNL.

(d) BSNL is making efforts to clear the liability on availability of sufficient cash flow. Additionally, Government has decided that BSNL pensioners who had deposited CGHS contribution before switching over to the health scheme of BSNL and are desirous of switching over again to CGHS are entitled for CGHS facility as per Office Memorandum dated 06.04.2022 of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

SILIGURI DISTRICT CONFERENCE HELD.

The 5th biennial District Conference of Siliguri was held on 24-07-2022. Com.Maniklal Mukherjee controlled the proceedings. Com.Pijush Chakraborty, Circle Secretary and CHQ Organising Secretary inaugurated the conference explaining the important issues of the pensioners and the agitational programme being launched by CHQ including the Sanchar Bhawan March on 24th August, 2022. A host of leaders including Coms. Uttam Sarkar, Joint Convener, Yuktamorcha,Suman Ch Roy, District Secretary and Bikash Pradhan, District Secretary,CMU addressed the inaugural session.The biennial report and audited accounts presented by Coms.Prabir Ghosh, District Secreatry and K P Banik, Treasurer were adopted after discussion and reply by both Circle Secretary and District Secretary. Office bearers were elected unanimously with Com.Maniklal Mukherjee (President) Com.Prabir Ghosh (District Secretary) and Com.Kaliprasad Banik (Treasurer).
