The biennial district conference of Thiruvananthapuram SSA has been held successfully on 10th June,2014 at YMCA hall ,Trivandrum under the presidentship of Com. K. Arjunan, District President. Com. K. G. Jayaraj, General Secretary inaugurated the conference explaining in detail the present position of 78.2% IDA merger,Memorandum to the 7th Pay Commission, anti people policies being resorted to by the NDA government etc. Com.Jacob Thomas, Vice Chairman,NFPE, Com. R. Muraleedharan Nair, Asst. General Secretary, BSNLEU, Com. K. Mohanan, Circle Secreatary, BSNLEU, Com. V. Bhaskaran Nair, Dist.Secretary,CGPA, Com. N. Ramesan, Circle Secretary, AIBDPA and Com. Ashok Kumar, Dist. Secretary, Confederation spoke. Com. J. Padmanabha Pillai, District Secretary welcomed the gathering and Com. G. Sasidharan Achari, Asst. Secretary proposed vote of thanks.

Com.P.Abhimanyu, General Secretary and Com. Swapan Chakraborty, Assistant General Secretary, BSNLEU have met Shri. S. C. Misra, Member (Services), Telecom Commission on 9th July and urged him to expedite action on extending the benefit of 78.2% IDA merger to  BSNL pensioners. The Member (Services) told the leaders that the file is now being processed seriously and the clarifications sought by the Department of Expenditure may be sent within one or two days.

Kannur District conference has been held most successfully at Cheruvathur on 05-07-2014. Com. P. V. Unnikrishnan, SSA President presided. Com. K. Mohan, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU, Kerala inaugurated the conference with an effective speech covering almost all the issues. Com.N. Ramesan, Circle Secretary, AIBDPA, Com. M. V. Kannan (CGPA) and a host of leaders spoke. The new SSA directory of all the members with telephone numbers and other useful informations was formally released by veteran leader, Com. Karayi Sreedharan. Elders who crossed 75 years, including Com. P. N. Kurup, were honoured  by Com. K. R. R. Varma, Assistant Circle Secretary, AIBDPA.

BSNLEU Leaders, Com. V. A. N. Namboodiri, President, Com. P. Abhimanyu, General Secretary and Com. Swapan Chakraborty, AGS met Shri. A. N. Rai, CMD, BSNLon 4th July,2014 and urged to put pressure on DOT for early issuance of orders on 78.2% IDA merger to BSNL pensioners retired before 10-06-2013.

The leaders also pressed the CMD to restore the quarterly medical allowance atleast to the pensioners, considering the hardships being faced by the BSNL pensioners ,for medical treatment.

Shri. R. K. Upadhyay, CMD, BSNL has retired on 30-06-2014. Shri. A. N. Rai, Director, (EB & HR) has been given additional charge of CMD, BSNL until new incumbent is posted.

Shri. Ram Sewak Sharma, Secretary, Electronics & IT has been given additional charge of Secretary, DOT, consequent on the retirement of Shri. M. F. Farooqui, Secretary,DOT on 30-06-2014. The appointment is for three months or until posting  of new Secretary.
