QUARTERLY MEDICAL ALLOWANCE FOR 2018-19 TO BE PROCESSED- SAYS BSNL MANAGEMENT.

There will not be any curtailment in medical facilities – assures Management in the all union/ association meeting.

In the all union / association meeting, called on by the Management  on 09-05-2018, to discuss the ways and means to curtail wasteful expenditures, severe protest was expressed by the representatives of various unions and associations, for the steps being taken by the Management to curtail the existing medical facilities of the serving and retired employees. They asked whether medical facilities being given to the serving and retired employees are wasteful expenditures? In the face of stiff opposition from the unions and associations, the Management Side assured that the existing medical facilities would not be curtailed. They also assured that the medical allowance with out vouchers for the retired employees, due from 1st April 2018, would be processed.

KALYAN DISTRICT CONFERENCE HELD ON 03-05-2018.

THE NEWLY ELECTED OFFICE BEARERS WITH COM.R.N. PATIL, CIRCLE SECRETARY.

The biennial District Conference of Kalyan, Maharashtra was held on 03-05-2018. Com.Gaikwad, District President controlled the proceedings. Com.R.N.Patil, Circle Secretary inaugurated the conference with an elaborate speech covering the important issues, including pension revision, BSNL MRS, Separate tower Company formation and the struggles being launched continuously. Coms. Baste, District Secretary, BSNLEU and other leaders addressed the conference.

Coms. V.N.Kashid, S.A.Soni and P.S.Tumkar were elected unanimously as President, District Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.

AUAB Week-long campaign from 7th to 11th May, 2018 – Organise street corner meetings.

The All Unions and Associations of BSNL( AUAB) has given call to conduct Street Corner meetings, from 7th to 11th May,2018. CHQ of BSNLEU calls upon the circle and district unions, to coordinate with the other constituents of the AUAB, and to successfully conduct this week-long campaign. The main purpose of this campaign is to go to the people and tell them about the anti-BSNL and anti-Public Sector policies being adopted by the government. Main focus of this campaign should be the issue of Subsidiary Tower Company. The government’s game-plan, to kill BSNL by breaking it to pieces, through formation of the Subsidiary Tower Company, should be well explained to the people. Flex banners carrying slogans against Subsidiary Tower Company should be displayed prominently, throughout the campaign.

KOLLAM DISTRICT CONFERENCE DEMANDS ROLL BACK OF TOWER COMPANY.

The 5th biennial Conference of KOLLAM district Branch slammed the central government’s decision to form a separate tower company with the ulterior motive of eliminating BSNL and demanded roll back of the decision. The conference was held at K.G.Bose Bhawan, Kollam on 05-05-2018 and inaugurated by Com.M.Noushad MLA with a powerful speech. Delivering the keynote address, Com.K.G.Jayaraj highlighted the issues of pension revision, BSNL MRS and other pending issues. Com.M.D.Rajan, District President presided over the conference. Coms.N.Guruprasad, Circle Secretary, N.C.Pillai, AGS,AIPRPA,  V.Sasidharan, District Secretary, CGPA, C.Muraleedharan Pillai, District Secretary, BSNLEU, R.Aravindakshan Nair, CHQ Treasurer & Circle President, K.N.Jyothilakshmi, ACS,BSNLEU, L.Krishnakumari, Circle Vice President and A.Muraleedharan Nair, District Secretary,AIPRPA greeted the conference.

The biennial report and audited accounts presented by Coms.N.Sasidharan Nair, District Secretary and G.Sasidharan Pillai, Treasurer were adopted after discussion.

Office bearers were elected unanimously with Coms.M.D.Rajan (President), N.Sasidharan Nair (District Secretary) and P.Muraleemanohar Das (Treasurer)

Com.N.Sasidharan Nair welcomed one and all and Com.M.C.Thulaseedharan Pillai, ADS proposed the vote of thanks. There was good participation of pensioners including lady comrades.

All India Convention of the Central Public Sector Trade Unions at New Delhi on 30.05.2018.

According to the decision taken in the meeting of the Public Sector Trade Unions, held at Ernakulam on 08-04-2018, an All India Convention of the Public Sector Trade Unions will be held on 30th May 2018, at New Delhi. The venue of the convention is Ghalib Institute, near ITO Metro Station, New Delhi.

The convention is being conducted on the following issues:-

  1. Against privatisation. 
  2. Demanding withdrawal of gazette notification on Fixed Term Employment.
  3. Demanding withdrawal of all restrictions and anti-worker preconditions on right to Collective Bargaining.
  4. Fair and satisfactory wage revision of CPSU workers.

KOLKATA TELEPHONES CIRCLE JOINT CONVENTION OF BSNLEU, AIBDPA AND BSNLCCWF HELD.

A unique joint convention of BSNLEU, AIBDPA and CTTMU by Kolkata Telephones Circle Branches was held on 04-05-2018 at the CTO hall, Kolkata on the twin issues of Better Service to the customers and to make Kolkata Telephone Circle profitable. A presidium of Coms. Supriya Mitra, Pradip Dutta and Tapash Banerjee controlled the proceedings. Com. Sisir Roy, Circle Secretary moved the resolution on the subject. Supporting the resolution, Coms. Sanjib Banerjee, Circle Secretary, AIBDPA,  Arup Sarkar ( CTTMU), Subashis Mishra (AIBSNLEA) addressed. Shri.S.P.Tripathi, CGM, CTD also addressed and appreciated the efforts of the unions.

The convention decided to hold area level conventions within June, 2018.

CALL ATTENTION DAY OBSERVED ALL OVER THE COUNTRY WITH GOOD PARTICIPATION.

The Call Attention Day called by BSNLEU was observed successfully throughout the country on 03-05-2018 by wearing badges and conducting lunch hour demonstration.   As per the call of CHQ,AIBDPA pensioners also participated in the programme in good numbers. The demands included stop curtailment of medical facilities to the employees and retirees , stop proposed out sourcing of customer care centers and avoid wasteful expenditure. Hearty congratulations to all the participants.

MAY DAY CELEBRATIONS AROUND THE WORLD BY WFTU AFFILIATES.

Workers from around the world organized mass strikes, demonstrations, rallies for the 1st of May in every country of the world, celebrations that honored the 132 years since the revolt of the workers in Chicago and projected their internationalism and demanded contemporary rights for the working class in each country, better wages, labor and trade union rights and liberties, social security, policies to confront unemployment.

EMINENT MARXIST ECONOMIST Dr.ASHOK MITRA PASSED AWAY.

Dr. Ashok Mitra (90), renowned Marxist Economist and former Finance Minister of West Bengal breathed his last on 01-05-2018 at Kolkata. He has also served as a member of Rajya Sabha and Chief Economics Advisor to the government of India.

AIBDPA pays respectful homage to Dr.Ashok Mitra and conveys heartfelt condolences to his family and comrades.
