Decisions taken in the meeting of the All Unions and Associations of BSNL, held on 23.08.2018.

A meeting of the All Unions and Associations of BSNL (AUAB) was held yesterday, the 23.08.2018, at BSNL MS office. The meeting was presided over by Com. Ravi Shil Verma, GS, AIGETOA. The meeting was attended by:-

The meeting observed one minute’s silence to condole the death of the people, who have lost their lives in the recent floods in Kerala.

The following decisions are taken in the meeting.

  1. The meeting decided to write to the CMD BSNL, suggesting to deduct one day’s basic pay from the salary of the willing employees, and to send the same to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
  2. The meeting seriously discussed about the status of the issues of Wage Revision, Pension Revision, Pension Contribution on actual basic pay, Allotment of 4G spectrum and Superannuation benefits. The meeting decided to meet the CMD BSNL immediately, and to urge upon him to arrange a meeting with the Secretary, DoT, at the earliest, to discuss about these issues. The meeting also decided to meet the OSD of the Hon’ble MoS(C) at the earliest, and to discuss about the non-implementation of the assurances given by the Hon’ble MoS(C).
  3. As regards the issue of Pension Contribution on the basis of actual basic pay, the meeting resolved to seriously pursue the issue with the Ministry of Finance and the PMO, through the Hon’ble Minister of State for Finance and the Hon’ble Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office. The meeting also decided to write to the Cabinet Secretary, about the non-implementation of the order of the DOP&T,on the issue of calculating Pension Contribution.
  4. On the issue of Superannuation benefits, the AUAB has already written to the CMD BSNL. It was decided that the AUAB representatives should meet the CMD BSNL, and to demand expeditious action on it. Further, as regards the incorrect reply given by the Hon’ble MoS(C) on the floor of the Parliament, on the issue of implementation of the recommendations of the 2nd PRC, it is decided to write to the Hon’ble MoS(C).

  BSNL Pips Bharti Airtel in Subscriber Addition During June 2018: Trai

BSNL has been reporting new subscriber additions every month and the same continued in June 2018. The state-run telecom operator, which operates in 20 telecom circles has added 2.44 lakh new customers during the month, according to the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai). In the process, BSNL has added more subscribers than the current leading telecom operator Bharti Airtel which has added a mere 10,689 subscribers during June this year. The telecom subscriber base in India reached 116.8 crore at the end of June, with Reliance Jio adding the highest number of new customers to its mobile network, according to the latest Trai monthly subscription data report.

BSNL PENSION REVISION- MEETING WITH DDG (ESTT), DOT.

Com.K.G.Jayaraj General Secretary has met Shri.S.K.Jain, DDG (Estt), Department of Telecom on 20-08-2018 and discussed the issue of immediate pension revision from 01-01-2017 with 15% fitment recommended by the 3rd PRC and approved by the government, delinking the wage revision in BSNL. 

The DDG stated that on our demand of pension revision without waiting for wage revision, necessary approval was sought from Department of Pension & Pensioners Welfare. However DOP& PW has replied seeking certain clarifications which will be dealt with in due course.

KERALA FLOODS- LET US HELP THE PEOPLE IN DISTRESS.

The unprecedented floods and landslides that hit Kerala in August, 2018 has claimed 484 valuable lives, lakhs of people were shifted to relief camps, thousands were stranded.  Rescue operations were conducted in a war foot basis under the able leadership of Com.Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister. Lakhs of people have lost everything as their houses were swept away in the floods. All the dams were compelled to be opened which aggravated the flood situation. Bridges, roads, electrical and telecom installations, rails etc are damaged and in some cases destroyed completely. So, life in Kerala was virtually paralysed as traffic through road, rail and air was stopped.

It was an unusual situation in the history of Kerala for the last 100 years. The government of Kerala is managing the situation most effectively with the support of the people, army, navy, air force, police, fire force and numerous non-government organisations. The services of the fishermen in rescue operation was crucial which minimized the loss of human lives. The huge financial burden of the devastating disaster cannot be borne with the government fund alone. The Chief Minister of Kerala has appealed to all for generous contributions to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund to help the people and to rebuild Kerala. CHQ requests all the units to extend an helping hand to the people of Kerala at this period of distress by contributing, whatever little it may be, to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund directly to bank account ; State Bank Of India, City Branch, Thiruvananthapuram- account No.67319948232, IFSC : SBIN0070028 , with intimation to CHQ. Kerala Circle Branch has already taken the initiative to collect the relief fund and has already paid Rs. 25,75,000 .

CHQ has donated Rs.2 lakh and contributions are being sent from other circles also.

RECEPTION COMMITTEE FORMED FOR THE 5TH KERALA CIRCLE CONFERENCE.

Kerala Circle has decided to hold its 5th biennial conference at Kollam on 12-13, November, 2018. The Reception Committee for the successful conduct of the circle conference was formed on 08-08-2018 in a largely attended meeting. Com.L.Krishnakumari, Circle President presided over the meeting. Com.N.Guruprasad, Circle Secretary welcomed all and explained the significance of the conference. Com.M.Noushad MLA inaugurated the meeting. Coms.P.Rajendran Ex MP, C.Santhoshkumar, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU and a host of leaders addressed the meeting.

The Reception Committee was formed with  Com.Advt.V.Rajendra Babu, Kollam Mayor (Chairman), M.D.Rajan (Working Chairman, N.Sasidharan Nair (General Convenor) and P. Muraleemohan Das (Finance Secretary).

SHRI.ATAL BIHARI VAJPAYEE PASSED AWAY.

Former Prime Minister, Shri.Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away on 16-08-2018 at AIIMS, New Delhi. He was 93 and was ailing for some time long. He holds the distinction of the first non-Congress Prime Minister who completed the full term of five years. Atalji was a writer and orator known for his cordial relationship to all whom he acquainted with. 

AIBDPA pays respectful homage to Shri.A.B.Vajpayee  and conveys heartfelt condolences to the family of the departed leader.

KANNUR DISTRICT WOMENS COMMITTEE FORMED.

A largely attended womens’ convention was held at NGO Union Hall, Kannur on 16-08-2018 to form the District Womens’ Committee. Com.P.V.Unnikrishnan, Circle Patron and District President controlled the proceedings. Com.P.P.Divya, Vice President, District Panjayath inaugurated the convention. Coms.K.V.remadevi, K.Syamala, C.P.Sobhana, P.Manoharan, Raveendran Kodakkad, K.Mohanan, V.V.Presannakumari and K.R.R.Varma addressed the convention. Com.K.Kunhiraman, District Secretary welcomed and K.Rajan, Assistant Circle Secretary proposed vote of thanks.

A genral body meeting of Krishnanagar branch was effectively held on 14-08-2018 under the presidentship of Com.Prabir Banerjee, Branch President. Delivering the inaugural address, Com.Pijush Chakraborty, Circle Secretary dealt in detail on the huge responsibility of holding the 3rd triennial All India Conference at Kolkata and appealed all out co-operation of all for the successful conduct of the AIC.
