In the meeting held with all the unions in BSNL on 04-11-2019, Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad hon’ble Minister for Communications,IT and Law asked everyone to utilize this opportunity of revival package to bail out BSNL and make it viable and competitive.

He reiterated that BSNL will not be closed down or disinvested.

He sought the cooperation of both the unions and management to successfully implement the ” attractive’ VRS so that the target of 80,000 is achieved. He also asked the management for early monetisation of BSNL assets to the extent of Rs.8.000 crore and the sales proceeds could be utilised by BSNL.

AUAB leaders thanked the Minister for his sustained efforts for getting revival package approved by the Cabinet. They also pointed out that they themselves have implemented certain effective campaign like Customer Delight Year Service with a smile, BSNL at your doorsteps etc to popularise BSNL services which had the expected result

Minister stated that this is the last chance for BSNL and he had to plead with the Prime Minister to get the approval as there was stiff opposition.

No discussion took place either on wage revision or pension revision.♦
