No wage cut or disciplinary action for the strike – Madras High Court gives direction to the Tamil Nadu State government

The Tamil Nadu state government employees and teachers went on an indefinite strike from 7th September, 2017 onwards, demanding implementation of the recommendations of the 7th CPC, withdrawal of the New Pension Scheme, etc. The strike was withdrawn on 15th September, as per the direction of the Madras High Court. Yesterday, hearing a petition in this connection, the High Court gave direction to the State government that, no wage cut should be imposed for the strike period, and also that no disciplinary action should be initiated for the strike action. The Court further directed that the Committee formed by the State government to study the recommendations of the 7th CPC, should submit it’s report by 30th September and that the State government should take a final decision on this by 13th October, 2017. Failing this, the State government should grant an interim relief of 20% to the employees, directed the Court.
