Vijayapur District Conference was held on 13-03-2021 under the Presidentship of Com. C S Sajjan, District President. Com. S B Sambani, Circle Organsing Secretary represented the Circle Branch and spoke elaborately on the issues confronting the pensioners. Represting the BSNL, Shri. Patil, AGM and Shri. V D Naik, SDE participated and greeted the conference. The Conference elected the new Office Bearers with Com. G B Salakki (President) Com.S S Dayanand (District Secretary) and Com. V B Karki (Treasurer).

The 3rd Circle Conference of Gujarat was held befittingly on 12,13, March, 2022 at Junagadh. 150 delegates from all parts of Gujarat participated. Com.N N Patel, Circle President was in chair. Com. Sanjib Banerjee, AGS represented CHQ and inaugurated the conference with an impressive speech covering the important issues and the efforts and struggles for acheiving the demands. Coms. D K Bakutra, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU, A N Singh, Circle Vice President, BSNLEU, Sunil Thakar, Circle Convenor, BSNL CCWF greeted the conference. Com. M B Chaniyara, Circle Secretary presented the report and accounts. All the district secretaries and some of the circle office bearers participated in the discussion and thereafter the report and accounts were adopted.

The 3rd biennial district conference of Cuddalore in Tamilnadu was held befittingly on 12-03-2022. Com.N Meghanathan, District President controlled the proceedings. Com. IM Mathialagan, District Secretary welcomed the gathering. Com. C K Narasimhan, Circle President inaugurated the conference with an elaborate speech covering almost all the issues. Coms. S Muthukumarasamy, Assistant Circle Secretary, S Nataraja, Circle Treasurer and P Manickamoorthy, Circle Vice President addressed the conference. After detailed discussion, the report and audited accounts were adopted. Office bearers with Com. N Mekhanathan (President) Com.I M Mathialagan (District Secretary) Com. B Chandrasekharan (Treasurer) were elected unanimously.

The 6th District Conference of Virudhunagar, Tamilnadu was held on 12-03-2022. Com. Selvarajan, District President presided over the conference. Com. N Kuppusamy, Circle Secretary inaugurated the conference. Com.S Mohandoss, CHQ Vice President delivered the keynote address. Both leaders explained elaborately the recent developments in the national scenario and in respect of the issues confronting the pensioners. Coms. M Selvarajan, Circle Organsing Secretary, A Gurusamy, District Secretary, BSNLEU, A Samudrakani, Circle Organising Secretary, BSNLEU, Muthusamy, District Secretary, TNTCWU and Theni Vasanthan( JCTU) etc greeted the conference. The report and accounts presented were adopted after discussion. Thereafter, office bearers were elected unanimously with Com. M Selvaraj (President) Com. K Murukandi (District Secretary) Com. M Perumalsamy (Treasurer).

The Co-ordination Committee of BSNLEU, AIBDPA & BSNLCCWF had given a call for Black Badge wearing Demonstration and submission of memorandum to the CGMs and GMs on 10-03-2022. The issues put forward for the agitation were (1) Immediate payment of frozen IDA instalments (2) Clear all pending medical bills and arrears of medical allowance to BSNL pensioners (3) Hold the LICEs of JTO, JAO, JE & TT to ensure promotion to the Non_ Executives and (4) Immediate payment of wage arrears of contract workers. The call of the agitation evoked good reponse from the employees, pensioners and workers throughout the country, may be due to the reason that their most burning issues are included. Reports received so far indicate that there have been massive participation in the program. CHQ congratulaate all the leaders and participants for successfully organising the agitation.

The 3rd District Conference of Kalburgi, Karnataka has been held in an enthusiastic atmosphere on 09-03-2022. Com.Doshetty, District President controlled the proceedings. In the inaugural session, a galaxy of leaders and officers of BSNL, including Coms. Muddaiah, Circle Secretary, H C Prakash, CHQ AGS, Eranna, Circle President, Shri. Rajendra S Chongad, General Manager, BSNL, Kalburgi addressed. The report and accounts presented by the District Secretary were adopted after discussion. Thereafter, the conference elected the office bearers unanimously with Com. B V Hakkaladdi. Com.S G Sharanappa (District Secretary) Com. Sanjeev Chakraborty (Treasurer)

The 5th biennial conference of Purulia District was held with good participation on 06-03-2022. A presidium consisting of Coms. D P Singh and S D Burman controlled the proceedings. Com.Partabijoy Mahato, Jt Convener, Pensioners Yukta mancha inaugurated the conference. A host of leaders, including Coms.Prakash Das, District Secretary, BSNLEU, Dilip Pal, District Secretary, Bankura, Tiruvanga Nandi, Organising Secretary, CORTO greeted the conference. Com. Lakshikanta Bag, District Secretary presented the report and audited accounts which were adopted after discussion. Thereafter, Com. Pijush Chakraborty, Circle Secretary spoke elaborately on our issues, struggles and exhorted to stregthen the oragnisation to face the challenges.

The world is observing 8th March as the International Womens Day. We have been hearing the rhetoric of gender equality, equal opportunity and equal wages for the women for sometime long. Many of us condemn in strong words the attacks on women. Still not a single day passes without the reports of violences against women and even minor girls are not spared. There are statutory rules in almost all the countries for stringent punishment against atrocities against women, including sexual assault. But unfortunately these rules seldom save the women from attacks.The Bill to ensure 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state legislatures is still kept in freezer for so many years. This reflects the real mindset of major political parties towards women. Even in the case of party positions, capable and qualified women are being sidelined. When we observe the International Womens Day, let us all introspect whether we are doing justice to the women of all the spheres. The fact remains that the atrocities against women and the sheer exploitatation is rampant in the capitalist countries and surely women are treated better in socialist countries.

An emergent Circle Executive Committee meeting of Odisha was held on 06-03-2022. Com. Sk Hoshen, Vice President presided as the Circle President is bed ridden. Com.A Dhupal, CHQ Vice President explained the organisational position after the sad demise of Circle Secretary, Com.A C Mohanty on 03-01-2022. Coms. S R Das, Circle President and C R Das, Circle Treasurer of BSNLEU greeted the meeting. After detailed discussion by the District Secretaries and Circle Office bearers, the meeting unanimously nominated Com. Saroj Ranjan Das as the Circle Secretary. Com.Sk Hoshen was nominated as the Working President and Com.Madhsudan Mallick as Vice President in the resultant vacancy.

Com.Saroj Ranjan Das is the former Circle Secretary , BSNLEU, Odisha and presently Circle President of BSNLEU. Com.S R Das is a sincere and committed leader and holds good influence among the employees and retirees as well. CHQ heartily congratulates him and hope that his working in tandem with veteran leader Com.A Dhupal and other leaders will definitely help to strengthen the organisation in Odisha.
