WARM GREETINGS ON THE OCCASION OF 75th ANNIVERSARY OF INDIAN INDIAN INDEPENDENCE.

illustration of Famous Indian monument and Landmark for 75th Independence Day of India on 15th August

The country is celebrating the 75th anniversary of Independence in a befitting manner. Yes, we are really proud to be Indians. No doubt, the country has achieved much and progressed considerably in most of the sectors. We are indebted to the sacrifices of thousands of great warriors who fought against British imperialists for the independence of this great country. But we are also facing big challenges against secularism, unity in diversity and protection of national assets. It is also a disturbing fact that while there is steep increase in the number of billioniers ,the ineqality between the rich and poor is being widened alarmingly. BSNL, as in the case of other important Public Sector Enterprises, is all set to be sold out for a song. The workers and pensioners are aslo under severe attack. So, let us rededicate ourselves to continue our fight to protect this great country from the divisive forces and ensure a better life, particularly for the marginalised and downtrodden people.

AIBDPA TO JOIN THE BLACK BADGE WEARING DEMONSTRATION CALLED BY BSNL EMPLOYEES UNION ON 17-08-2022.

BSNL EMPLOYEES UNION has given a call to organise countrywide Black Badge wearaing Demonstration on 17-08-2022 against the treacherous stand of the government and BSNL management to retrench 35000 employees more in the name of another VRS. It is also against the move to treat the employees as slaves by asking them to work 12hrs per day or face action on 56(J).This a very serious situation and nothing short of the intention of the government to hand over BSNL to the corporates. It has to be resisted with all out efforts and strong struggles. Therefore all the AIBDPA units are requested to join the Protest Action called by BSNLEU on 17-08-2022 in large numbers so as to give a strong warning to the government and the BSNL management.

The statement issued by Com.P Abhimanyu, General Secretary in this regard is reproduced below;

BSNLEU calls on the employees to organise Day-long Black Badge wearing and Lunch Hour Demonstrations on 17-08-2022.*It is shocking to know that, the Government and the BSNL Management are taking serious steps to retrench another 35,000 employees through VRS. The Government and the Management are also trying to convert BSNL employees into slaves, with threatenings to dismiss under Rule 56(J) and making them to work up to 12 hours per day. Under these circumstances, the All India Centre of BSNLEU has decided to organise the following agitational programmes on *17-08-2022. **(1) Day-long Black Badge Wearing.**(2) Lunch Hour Demonstrations. *The CHQ of BSNLEU calls upon all the circle and district unions to organise the above two programmes successfully by mobilising the maximum number of employees, pensioners and contract workers. Let us send our strongest protest to the Government and the Management.Regards.*-P.Abhimanyu,GS.*

AN APT REPLY TO THE UTTERANCES OF THE MINISTER.

It is unfair to hold the employees responsible for the problems being faced by BSNL – BSNLEU writes to Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister for Communications.

Only the anti-BSNL and pro-private steps taken by the government is responsible for the downfall of BSNL. However, in the Heads of circle conference, held in the BSNL Corporate Office on 04.08.2022, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister of Communications, has held the employees responsible for the downfall BSNL. This has been widely reported in the media, which has sent a wrong message about BSNL employees. In view of this, BSNLEU has written a letter to the Hon’ble Minister of Communications, wherein the facts and figures have been explained.

Dear Comrades,

The Nation will celebrate the 75th year of its independence on 15th August, 2022   It was a long journey commenced from the day we attained freedom on 15th August 1947.   In that journey, our country has created ever so many milestones in its progress from a primitive economy to one of the performing developing economies of the world. In retrospect many of us do feel that the country could have done better.  Strikingly it disappoints the large majority of the people that the great objective of creating an egalitarian society remained a mirage.  The trajectory of the development of the country in the past three decades especially clearly indicates that the concept of egalitarianism has been abandoned by its rulers

On this day, it is our duty to rededicate ourselves to the cause of our Nation.  Besides the conventional practice of participating in the Independence Day celebration at institutional level, the Government and especially the Prime Minister has called upon us to make it an event at every home.  Pensioners are normally the senior most persons at every house and we must ensure that we take the initiative to hoist the flag at our house tops on 15th August 2022 and explain to our young members the sacrifice rendered by the freedom fighters of the country.  But for their dedication and determination, perhaps we would not have been enjoying the freedom even today.  The role of the working class and the revolutionaries, which unfortunately did not get the requisite prominence in the recorded history of the freedom movement must get special mention on this occasion.  Our Constitution, the federal structure of our Nation, the democratic concept of governance were the product of deep deliberations and aspirations of those who were active in the freedom struggle.  The fact that those high ideals are on severe strain in the present-day governance of the country is to be brought home.  We must have no hesitation in stating that the concept of independence is not only freedom from alien colonial rule but embracing a governance procedure for the well- being of the entirety of the populace of the country without allowing room for any discrimination.

Let us hoist the flag explaining the concept of an egalitarian society for that alone will keep the Nation free for ever.

With greetings,

Yours fraternally,

KKN. Kutty

Secretary General.
