Office bearers were elected with Com.K V Sasidharan (President) Com.A Purushothaman (District Secretary) Com.P D Sathyan (Treasurer). Com.A Purshothaman welcomed and Com.Balan Punnaserry proposed vote of thanks.
The biennial district conference of Bongaigaon, Assam was held on 24th January, 2024 at the Railway Institute Hall under the presidentship of Com. R S Ray. Com.M R Das, CHQ President inaugurated the conference with a detailed speech. Com.S N Sarma, Circle Secretary spoke on organisational issues. A host of leaders including Coms.K C Medh, Circle President, A Rahman,ACS , Sikader (Railway) addressed the conference. Com.D C Paul, District Secretary presented the report and accounts and were adopted after discussion. The important functionaries elected are Com. R R Ray (President) Com.Amalananda Chakraborty (District Secretary) and Com.Sunil Kumar Hanjung Roy (Treasurer).
The joint forum of trade unions and farmers bodies has given a call for a nationwide general strike and Grameen Bandh (rural close down) on February 16,2024 to protest against the anti-worker, anti-farmer and anti-national policies of the central government. The Joint forum is pressing for the demands which include higher minimum (crop MSP) support price, minimum wage of Rs 26,000 per month for workers, repeal of four labour codes, repeal amendments made to IPC/CrPC, guaranteed employment as fundamental right.
BSNL Employees Union has decided to join the strike for settlement of the important demands including wage revision, and pension revision. So all the AIBDPA units are requested to extend full cooperation at all levels and participate in the campaign programmes so that the strike is made most successful.
Pathanamthitta District Conference has been held successfully on 24-01-2024 at PVC Nagar {Town Hall, Pathanamthitta) . Com.A S Ajikumar , District President controlled the proceedings. Com.K G Jayaraj, General Secretary inaugurated the conference and explained the issues in detail. Com.N Guruprasad, Circle Secretary delivered a brilliant keynote address. Coms. K K Jagadamma (Confederation), A K Gopalan (AIPRPA), V Jayan (BSNLEU), Sooraj(NFPE), Sreedharan Nair (NCCPA), Jacob Mathew (AKBRF) etc greeted the conference. In the subject session, Com.MGS Kurup, District Secretary presented the report so also Com.K R Rajendran the audited accounts. Both the report and accounts were adopted after discussion. A new set of office bearers were elected with Com. A S Ajikumar (President), Com.M G S Kurup (District Secretary) Com. K R Rajendran (Treasurer). It is worth mentioning that out of the 125 delegates, 35 were women. Com.M G S Kurup delivered the welcome address and Com.P Sadanandi proposed vote of thanks.
