It is very difficult to believe that Com.Jothi is no more. Another precious life has been snatched away by the dreaded Corona. He was admitted to CMC, Vellore three days ago and was not responding to medicines, according to the doctors and breathed his last at 8 PM on 02-05-2021.
A militant and vibrant leader with innovative ideas on functioning has contributed enormously to strengthen AIBDPA in Vellore District. Com.Jothi was very active in the progressive movement, particularly CPI(M).
It is a great loss not only to our organisation but also to the progressive movement.

Com.A K Padmanabhan, Veteran Trade Union leader and National Vice President of CITU has released the Malayalam version of the autobiography of Com.V A N Namboodiri, most aptly titled ” Samaram Jeevitham” ( Struggle Life) in a well organised virtual function on 27-04-2021. Com.P V Chandrasekharan, Patron, AIBDPA virtually received the book.

The function was formally inaugurated by Shri. T P Ramakrishnan, Honorable Minister for Labour and Excise, Kerala..

Shri.P M V Panicker , Convenor, Organising Committee welcomed all and Com.M Vijayakumar, AGS, BSNLEU proposed vote of thanks.

Com.V A N Namboodiri replied suitably to the felicitations and declared that Rs.20,000 received towards sale of the book will be donated to the CMDRF towards vaccine challenge. Family members of Com.V A N, Com.Pankajam Namboodiri (Wife), Shaji Narayanan (Son) and Mini Narayanan (Daughter) also participated.

Com.W A Siddiqui, District Secretary, AIBDPA, Sahranpur, UP (W) breathed his last on 27-04-2021. He was under treatment for multiple ailments of heart and lungs.
Com. Siddiqui was a sincere leader who organised the Pensioners of his district and formed AIBDPA. He also took up the responsibility of Secretary and continued till his death.

NCCPA has decided to hold a Seminar on May Day , 01-05-2021. Com.K Hemalatha, National President , CITU will address the seminar.

The seminar is scheduled to be held online from 3PM to 5.30PM on 01-05-2021. All CHQ office bearers, Circle Secretaries, Circle office bearers and District Secretaries are requested to participate in the seminar and make it a success. The link for the meeting will be given by 30th April, 2021.

It is a good decision in the right direction to form a Co-ordination Committee of BSNLEU, AIBDPA & BSNL CCWF. It is a fact that BSNLEU is the parent organisation for AIBDPA & BSNLCCWF, as both these organisations were founded by BSNLEU.

The meeting of the representatives of these organisations was held online on 17-04-2021 in a very cordial manner and serious discussion took place on the important issues confronting the employees, pensioners, contract workers and BSNL. The details have been narratted in the circular given hereunder.

Circle Secretaries are requested to initiate efforts to form the Co-ordination Committee at Circle and District levels. Two representatives of each organisation , preferrably President and Secretary will constitute the committee. Office bearers are to be elected in the same pattern of CHQ level Committee.

No doubt, the formation of Co-ordination Committee of our three organisations would strengthen the relationship between these organisations and thus help to effctively organise the struggles unitedly in future.

AIBDPA has been continuously pursuing the issue of payment of IDA installments due from 01-10-2020 and 01-01-2021 with the Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, DPE and DOT.We also got a favourable order from the High Court of Kerala on 26-02-2021. The copy of the order was promptly sent to both DPE and DOT vide our letter dated 01-03-2021. Thereafter we again sent another letter on 20-03-2021 along with copy of the letter of the Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises to Shri. P R Natarajan MP to the effect that freezing of IDA is not applicable to workmen and Pensioners of CPSEs.Still there was no response from both the respondents . So we filed an urgent petition in the High Court of Kerala for further orders. The vacation bench of the High Court heard the case today, the 23rd April, 2021 and took the following decision.” In the light of the order dated 26-02-2021, no further order is necessary.If there is any violation of the order, the petitioner can take appropriate steps”.This has been duly communicated to the Secretary, DoT vide our letter dated 23-04-2021 urging for early Implementation of the order by causing necessary action for payment of IDA installments to BSNL Pensioners without further delay.We shall continue the efforts till the payment is made.
