Reception Committee formation for All India Conference

It has been decided to form a comprehensive Reception Committee for the successful conduct of our triennial All India Conference at Kannur. The Convention for this purpose will be held at Kannur on 8th August 2012. Com P.V.Chandrasekharan All India Patron, Com. K.G Jayaraj General secretary and Com.K.Mohanan Circle Secretary BSNLEU Kerala and Com.R.Muraleedharan Nair AGS BSNLEU will participate.

Supreme Court has refused to intervene on 2G verdict canceling 122 licences of Telecom Companies.

Supreme Court has refused to intervene in the 2 judge bench’s verdict on 2G canceling 122 licences of Telecom Companies. Hearing on the Presidential reference the five judge constitution bench on 10th July made it clear that there is no doubt about the correctness of the order of February 2, but indicated to examine the Central Governments plea whether auction route is the only method for allocation of all natural resources.

Salem District unit formed

AIBDPA Salem District unit in Tamil Nadu has been formed on 08.07.2012. The meeting of pensioners convened for this purpose was addressed by Com. S. Mohandoss and Com. C.K. Narasimhan, Circle President and Circle Secretary respectively. Office bearers were elected unanimously with Com. P. Ramaswamy (President) District Secretary Com. V. Ponnuvel & Treasurer Com. T. Dorai Swamy.

Kerala Circle Executive Committee meeting

CEC of Kerala Circle was held at K.G. Bose Bhavan, Ernakulam on 05.07.2012. Com. P.V. Chandrasekharan in his presidential address gave a good account of developments and the important issues of the pensioners. Com. N. Ramesan, Circle Secretary presented the brief report since the Circle Conference of 19th May, 2012. All the CEC members participated in the discussion. CEC decided to strengthen AIBDPA by enlarging the membership and to support the Kannur comrades for the successful conduct of All India Conference on 6th & 7th February, 2013.

DoT modifies original proposal on 2G auction on intervention of Prime Minister.

The proposal of DoT to levy one time auction determined price for all spectrum they currently hold, from the existing operators has been modified into a liberalized regime after stiff opposition from the finance ministry armed with the backing of Prime Minister along with the Planning Commission. As per the original non liberalized regime proposal, the operators would be able to offer only 2G service as they do now. But the modified liberalized regime ensures the operators to use the spectrum for any, service – 2G, 3G or 4G.
 
Let us refresh our memory to the 2G scam in which the central treasury lost Rs.1.76 lakh crore as estimated by the CAG. It was the Supreme Court that cancelled the licences of 122 telecom companies and directed the Central Government to follow the auction route for allocation of all the natural resources.
