78.2 IDA MERGER-FORUM LEADERS TO MEET DOT SECRETARY

Leaders of Forum of BSNL unions/Associations will meet the DOT
Secretary on 06-06-2013 to discuss the issue of 78.2% IDA merger
on which the Forum has already given notice for an INDEFINITE
STRIKE from 12-06-2013.Therefore the mass Dharna 5th June at all places
has to made a grand success with maximum participation.

IN THE DHARNA ON 05-06-2013

RUPEE RECORDS NEW LOW.

The rupee closed on 30th May at 56.39 against US dollar,a ten month low,even as the
Reserve Bank of India Governor aired his co
ncerns on high retail inflation
and widening current account deficit.

GENERAL SECRRETARY INAUGURATES CGPA DHARNA

As per the decision of NCCPA National Executive held at
Hyderabad on 11th February,2013 CGPA Alappuzha district
committee organised a Mass Dharna on 30th May,2013.
The Dharna participated by more than 200 pensioners was
inaugurated by Com.K.G..Jayaraj,General Secretary,AIBDPA
at the Head Post Office premises,Alappuzha.
The demands included are as follows.
1.Withdraw PFRDA bill.
2.Appoint 7th Pay Commission and merge 50% DA with pay.
3.Restore Commutation after 12/9 years.
4.Ensure comprehensive medical facilities in all district headquarters
and grant Rs.1200 as monthly medical allowance
5.Grant parityy in pension to the pre 2006 retirees.
6.Implement all recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission
w e f. 01-01-2006.
7.Settle anomoly in pension to those retired within ten months
of formation of BSNL.
8.Grant full pension for 20 years service to those retired before
01-01-2006.etc

DOT TO SLAP PENALTY ON AIRTEL.

DOT is alll set to impose a penalty of Rs.650cr on Bharati Airtel

for violation of
licence norms on subscriber local dialling services
It is reported that the operator,Bharati Airtel has violated
licence conditions in 13 circles and DOT has propsed to slap
maximum penalty of Rs.50 crore each for every circle
But the question is whether the penalty wii be implemented
and Bharati i Aittel taken to task..

on 18-04-2013 and Demonstration on 15-05-2013 with photograps
,if any to CHQ for publication in the Tele Pensioner,April-June 2013

MASSIVE PARTICIPATION IN DEMONSTRATION ON 15TH MAY,2013

The decision of the All India Conference to conduct Demonstration at SSA/CIRCLE levels for settlement of the 22 point Charter of Demands on 15th May has been responded well throughout the country.
Initial reports from various circles indicate that the participation of the pensioners were massive in almost all places even beyond the expectation of the concerned leaderships.
Com.PV.Chadrasekharan,Patron inaugurated the programme before the CGMT/CCA office at Thiruvananthapuram participated by large number of pensioners.
Com.K.G.Jayaraj,General Secretary inaugurated a well attended demonstration before the GMT office,Alappuzha.
In many places BSNLEU also joined.

CHILD DEATH HIGHEST IN INDIA

A study by ‘Save the Children’ has revealed that over three lakh new borns in India die within 24 hours of their birth every year.This is the highest number in the world.
The country thus accounts for 29 per cent of all such deaths,ahead even of Nigeria and Pakistan.
The report also claims that 420000 babies across South Asia die on their first day-almost one every minute.Chronic malnourishment which leads to mortal or physical impairment or stunting is severe in the region.
Bangladesh has reduced new born mortality by 49 per cent since 1990

78.2% IDA FIXATION-FORUM DECIDES INDEFINITE STRIKE

The meeting of Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations held on 9th May,2013 at New Delhi has decided the following programme of action against the unjustified and rather provocative delay in approval by DOT on 78.2% IDA fixation.
22-05-2013-Demonstration
05-06-2013-Dharna
12-06-2013-Indefinite Strike.
AIBDPA fully endorses the decision of the Forum and calls upon all its units to participate enmasse in the programme to make it a grand success

RCom hikes call charges

Reliance Communications Ltd has effected steep hike in call charges,a minimum 20 per cent hike in telecom tariffs with effect from 6th May,2013 to improve profitability.It has also taken steps to cut down on freebies.The new tariffs apply to all existing and new customers.
The company said the tariff for all its Commitment Plans had been hiked by 20 to 30 per cent.
RCom also announced a sharp reduction in promotional and concessional offers to improve its margins.
Now,the other private telecom companies will also follow suit.
