Letter to Director (HR), BSNL on early settlement of Pension
AIBDPA/BSNL/2013 December 05, 2013
To,
Shri A.N. Rai,
Director (HR), BSNL,
Bharat Sanchar Bhawan,
Janpath, New Delhi – 110 001
Sir,
Sub: – Undue delay in furnishing required details of the retiring officials in BSNL – reg.
Despite standing instructions to forward the necessary service particulars of retiring officials well in advance most of the telecom districts are not complying and the result is that CCAs are unable to complete the work within the time schedule and the retirees are the sufferers.
Whenever, we meet the DOT officers, they repeatedly complain about this and plead helplessness to disburse the retirement benefits of the retiring officials in time due to the negative and unhelpful approach of BSNL. In this connection, we feel that merely sending the instructions will not serve the purpose and there should be a regular monitoring system at all levels, from the Corporate Office to District level to see that the instructions are followed strictly and to make the erring officials accountable.
It is our experience, that in words, all the concerned, from the ministers to the top level officers are very much sympathetic to the pensioners issues and for speedy settlement of the pensioners problems, but in action, negative and rather negligence.
I would therefore request you to kindly make necessary arrangement to post some officer to look after the pensioners issues at the corporate office of BSNL to begin with.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully
[K.G. Jayaraj]
General Secretary
Observe Pensioners Day on 17.12.2013
It was on 17th December, 1982 the Supreme Court delivered the landmark judgement on D.S. Nakera’s case declaring that pension is no charity but a right of the employee. The judgement is considered as the ‘magnacarta’ of the pensioners and the day is being observed as the “National Pensioners Day”. All the AIBDPA units are directed to observe the Day, as for as possible, jointly with other pensioners organizations, as this time the observance has more relevance in the wake of the enactment of PFRDA Bill by the Parliament
The meeting with Member (Finance) and Director (Estt.)
Today, 2nd December, Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri, Advisor AIBDPA & President, BSNLEU, Com.K.G.Jayaraj, General Secretary, AIBDPA and Com. Animesh Mitra, Dy. General Secretary, BSNLEU met Mrs. Annie Moraes,Member (Finance), DOT and discussed the issues of 78.2% IDA Merger and Anomaly of those who retired within 10 months of formation of BSNL. The representatives expressed their displeasure over the delay being caused for one or other reasons. The Member (F) assured that as the file has been received from the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare with a query, it will be replied with minimum delay as far as possible despite the usual official procedure.
Regarding anomaly also, further delay is caused due to some more details required by the Department of Pensions and Pensioners’ Welfare.
Representatives also met Shri Prachish Khanna Director (Estt.), who stated that the draft of reply of 78.2% IDA to the Dept of P&PW is finalised and will be sent as early as possible after ratification by the higher officers. As for the anomaly issue, BSNL is being addressed for furnishing the required particulars.
