Ustad Zakir Hussain, who is regarded as the greatest tabla player of his generation, has passed away at a San Francisco hospital on 16th December, 2024. He was only 73 and the untimely death occured due to pulmonary fibrosis. Zakir Hussain started playing tabla at an young age of 7 and became prominent worldwide with his masterly skills on the instrument. He was a 4 time winner of Grammy award, the world’s greatest award for music. The country also honoured him with Padma Sri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.
