17th Congress of WFTU successfully concluded with a massive rally.

 

             Com. George Mavericos re-elected as General Secretary.

The 17th Congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), held at Durban, South Africa, from 5th to 8th October, 2016, was a great success in strengthening the unity of the international working class movement. 1244 delegates, including 320 women, from 111 countries, participated in the Congress. As of now, 244 trade unions, having a total membership of 92 million are affiliated to the WFTU. 112 speakers participated in the discussion, who vividly explained about the capitalist exploitation going on in their countries, and the struggles being waged by the working class. The Congress has infused a new and strong determination into the delegates, to strengthen working class unity and struggles against capitalist exploitation. Com. George Mavericos of Greece was once again re-elected as the General Secretary of the WFTU.
