Centre approves 10% disinvestment in HAL

Central Government has given the nod to a proposal for disinvestment of 10 per cent of its equity in Hindustan Aeronauticals Ltd through a initial public offer(IPO).HAL at present is handling key projects for the armed forces including manufacturing and develoment of aircrafts.Centre seems not concerned in allowing private partcipation in areas where national security is involved

Joint forum of unions demands the Centre to excempt one time fee

The decision of the central government to levy Rs.10890 crore from BSNL and MTNL towards additional spectrum charge would surely put the PSUs to furthur crisis which are already incurring loss for the last three years.Therefore the demand of the Joint Forum of Unions in BSNL and MTNL to excempt the PSUs from the one time fee is fully justified.

CPSEs demand more autonomy in running the PSUs

The CMDs of central PSUs have demanded the Heavy Industry Ministry to grant more autonomy and powers to run the units effectively.This is fully justified and further more the unnecessary interventios of the Centre should be avoided.BSNL had the bitter experience of cancellation of 45 million and 95 million GSM tenders by the intervention of the government which affected its development badly.

Mobile subscriber base down in September 2012

For the third consecutive month,the mobile subscriber base has gone down. It has been reduced from 908.36 million in August 2012 to 906.62 million in September.17.4 lakh connections have been reduced within one month.At the same time, BSNL has added 3.93 lakh connections. A significant achievement indeed

NMDC Unions serve STRIKE notice

Major trade unions of the National Mineral Development Corporation have decided to launch an indefinite strike in protest against the Centres decision to disinvest 10 % of its stake. The workers would observe a token strike on November 10 followed by a seven day strike starting December 1st. There after the unions would meet to decide the date for the indefinite strike

Tata Teleservices on Monday withdrew its application for participating in the CDMA spectrum auction. Earlier Videocon Telecommunications had pulled out. And now, nobody is in the fray for the CDMA auction. It is reported in the press that “high auction starting price” has deterred the bidders. This is part of a game plan to get the starting price reduced.
